Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the "musicafè" app and the other apps of the musicafè Suite family (together, "the apps"), published by Simone Scigliuzzi, handle information when you use them. It applies to every app in the family.

1. No accounts, no servers

The apps do not require you to create an account and do not have a backend server operated by us. There is nowhere for your personal data to be collected or stored on our side. Your songs, setlists, folders and app preferences are stored exclusively on your device — in the app's local files and local storage.

You can export your song library to a file, import a file, or share a single song with a QR Code. These are actions you actively choose to perform, and the data travels directly between your device and the recipient's (or into a file you control) — it never passes through a server of ours.

2. Permissions we request

Microphone

Used only by the tuner, to detect the pitch of the note you're playing. The audio signal is analyzed in real time, on your device, and is never recorded, saved or transmitted anywhere. The app only asks for this permission after you tap to use the tuner — it never starts listening on its own. If you'd rather the tuner not start automatically once permission is granted, you can turn that off in Settings.

Camera

Used only to scan QR Codes — to receive a song someone shared with you, or to join a group session. No photo or video is ever saved or sent anywhere; the camera feed is only read locally to decode the code.

Internet access

Used to load advertising, to synchronize group sessions in real time, to download the instrument sounds and fonts the apps use (served through content delivery networks), and to check for app updates on the store (at most once every few hours). Like any internet request, these downloads expose your IP address to the servers that fulfil them; we don't use it to identify you. See the sections below for what advertising and group sessions involve.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The apps are supported by advertising delivered through Google AdMob — interstitial ads, rewarded video ads, and native ads shown inline in lists. AdMob is the only third-party advertising service we use.

Where required (in the European Economic Area and the UK), we show a consent form built on Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before displaying personalized ads, in line with GDPR requirements. Through this SDK, Google's AdMob may collect data such as advertising identifiers, device information, approximate location (derived from your IP address), diagnostic information about how ads perform, and how you interact with ads, in order to serve and measure advertising and to help prevent fraud and abuse. This processing is governed by Google's own policies: Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

You can review or withdraw your consent at any time from the "Ads privacy" entry in the app's Settings (where shown), and manage your device's advertising identifier and personalization settings from your Android settings.

4. Group sessions ("Stage")

When you use a shared "Stage" (rehearsal room, recording studio or live performance) to play in sync with other people, the apps exchange real-time messages — setlists, song content, playback position — through Ably, a third-party real-time messaging provider acting as our processor (Ably's Privacy Policy).

These channels are end-to-end encrypted: the encryption key is generated on the organizer's device and shared only through the invite QR Code, directly between the devices joining the session. Ably's servers only ever see encrypted data — including the setlist and songs exchanged during the session.

To show who's in the session, each participant's device shares their display name (which you choose in Settings — it defaults to your device's brand and model, but you can change it), their instrument/role, and their chosen avatar with the other members, for the duration of the session. This information is not stored by us and is not persisted once the session ends.

5. What we don't do

• We don't ask you to create an account or sign in.
• We don't run our own analytics, tracking or crash-reporting tools.
• We don't send push notifications.
• We don't sell your personal data, and we don't share it with anyone beyond the services described above.
• We don't build advertising or behavioral profiles of our own.

6. Children's privacy

The apps are not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will address it.

7. Your rights

The legal basis for showing personalized ads is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time as described in section 3. Because your app data lives only on your device, the simplest way to erase it is to clear the app's data or uninstall the app — nothing remains on our side.

If the GDPR applies to you, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability, under Articles 15–22 of the GDPR. You can exercise these rights, or ask us any question about this policy, by writing to support@musicafesuite.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

If we make changes to this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. We encourage you to review it from time to time — continuing to use the apps after a change means you accept the updated policy.
